LINKLATER, Wilfred (Wilf) Russell

April 2nd, 1946

to December 18, 2003

Wilf was born in Chilliwack, BC. He was the youngest of three children born to Fred and Loretta Linklater. Sadly, Wilf left us on December 19th, 2003.

He attended elementary school in Rosedale and high school in Chilliwack, and graduated in 1964. He then worked in the Harrison Lake area for various logging companies. In April of 1967 Wilf came to Vancouver Island to work in the Nimpkish Valley for Canfor. He was employed with Canfor as a mechanical charge hand until August 1973.

On April 21st, 1973, Wilf married his hometown sweetheart Donna Jean Kricheldorf of Rosedale. Wilf and Donna settled into their new home in Campbell River where they resided until September 1974. They then relocated to Toba Inlet where Wilf and his partner Knud Mogenson purchased an off highway trucking business. In October 1974 they moved the trucking business to Phillips Arm, contracting for Timfor as log haulers under the banner of Toba Ventures. Wilf and Donna lived in Phillips Arm until December 1978. During their time in Phillips Arm their two daughters were born, Brandy Lynne in June 1976 and Sandy Dawn in September 1977. His family was everything to him. Wilf continued in the trucking business until the year 2000 when ill health forced him to sell the last of his business. He was very successful in his business ventures and a brilliant mechanic.

Wilf packed a lot of things into his life. He delighted in doing a great deal of travelling to the United States, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. He was an honest hardworking man who was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Wilf had a love for animals, especially dogs. He also enjoyed watching the activity on the water through the window of his oceanfront condo where he resided for the past seven years. Wilf’s daughters will always remember his unique laugh and good sense of humour.

He is survived by his Mother Loretta of Chilliwack, his loving daughters Brandy Lynne of Campbell River and Sandy Dawn of Victoria, the Mother of his children Donna of Campbell River, his Brother Gordon (Andrea) of Rosedale, his sister Ann of Chilliwack, and also many nieces, nephews, cousins and multitude of friends. He is predeceased by his Father Fred in 1993, Brother-in-law Roy, Uncle Jim (Margaret), Uncle Jack (Dorothy), Uncle Wilfred and his special Auntie Vida.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 2 p.m. at the Elks Hall, 516 S. Dogwood in Campbell River. Donations may be made in Wilf’s name to the S.P.C.A.
