In Loving Memory ~

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Vern Friesen, 85 on the early morning of October 28th.

He was born in Coaldale, AB but lived most of his early life in Port Kells, B.C. In 1957, he joined the military and retired in 1981 in Comox. While stationed in Alberta, he met his wife, Arlene (a nurse) and they married in 1965. Dennis, their son was also born in Edmonton and now lives in Coquitlam with his wife and son, Reuben.

Living near the ocean was always a passion of Vern's where he could enjoy boating and fishing.

After retiring from the military, he started a fishing guide business (Denverlene Charters) and also moved boats. After, that he became interested in motorcycling and eventually bought a Harley and met new friends touring about the countryside. In the Winter, he and Arlene drove south to Mazatlan and then Yuma.

Vern was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen and is survived by his wife, Arlene, sister Elsie (Dennis Campbell) of Lumby, B.C. and son Dennis (Renee) and grandson, Reuben.

There will be no service at Vern's request.

Those wishing to pay tribute to Vern may donate to a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
