In Loving Memory ~

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Verna, and her son Brad (Chantal). He is also survived by his ex-wife, Barb and their 2 sons, Stephen and Darren. Wayne was also thrilled to have 5 adorable, intelligent granddaughters.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents John and Iris who we were fortunate to have been with us until their mid-90's. Also, predeceased by one of his beloved brothers, Ron.

Wayne was born in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan. His mother was Helen Kwasnica and his father John Lemky. They were only married for a short period when Wayne and his dad relocated to British Columbia. For seven years, he was raised by his paternal grandparents whom he dearly loved. John then remarried Iris Wiebe.

Between John and Helen, Wayne was fortunate to have seven half siblings who were all an important part of his life. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a heavy-duty mechanic. He jokingly was called the "two-year man". He thoroughly enjoyed flying into new camps and the challenges of working in the bush. In his younger years, he also enjoyed photography, hunting and fishing and was a member of the 4-wheel drive club in Quesnel.

After retirement, Wayne had a huge vegetable and flower garden and all the neighbors commented that he had the best-looking yard on the block. He also loved biking. He was quick to help out a neighbor, friend, or the boys at any time.

He and Verna loved to hang with friends or neighbors and also loved to go gambling and cheer on the Canucks; it's sad that Wayne is not enjoying their success this year although we believe he is watching and he took his jersey with him.

In 2020, Wayne was T-boned by a truck that went through a red light. He was never the same after. He suffered a brain injury. Wayne was able to be at home for several years but was on a steady decline. He attended the Adult Day Program at The Views where he and Verna met several new lifelong friends.

He was then admitted to The Views in January 2023. The Views was his home for over a year. The staff and residents were one big family for him and Verna. We were all so blessed he had such excellent care. The family and staff had a stupendous 80th birthday party for him just weeks before his passing.

There has been a cremation at Wayne's request and there will be a celebration of life planned at a later date.
