Viola Marie Darnbrough

Darnbrough - Viola Marie “Lola” of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, June 14th, 2002, at age 83. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 64 years, John “Jack”, son Leonard (Elizabeth) Darnbrough of Oliver; her daughter Diana (Leonard) Jenks of Victoria; grandchildren Dr. Lorena Jenks (Dr. John Nelson) of Fort Frances, Ontario; Sandra Jenks (James Pryde) of Montreal and Laura Semaniuk (Martin) of Mission, B.C.; great grandchildren Andrea, Michael and Michaela; her brother Robert (Patricia) Doughty of Parksville and sister Kathleen (Lloyd) Smith of Courtenay. Mrs. Darnbrough was predeceased by brother Alvie Vander Haeghe. She was a loving mother and wife - always thinking of her family and friends. Lola loved her pets, enjoyed gardening, music and singing. She was truly a “musical person” which provided great joy in her life. Many thanks to Dr. Ron Brown and the caring staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, especially the nurses in I.C.U. A Service of Remembrance in Celebration of her life will take place from the Chapel of COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD, on Wednesday, June 19th at 2:00 with the Reverend Ray Brandon officiating. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the “Garden Room and Outdoor Patio” of the funeral home. For those wishing, donations in Lola’s memory to The St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, B.C. V9M 1P2 would be appreciated.
