We are saddened to announce the passing of Vicki Kathleen Auerbach (nee Taylor).
Vicki lost her battle with cancer after years of putting up a spirited fight, while never letting her struggles dim her bright personality and her sharp mind.
She is survived and will be missed by her sister Sandra Taylor; her husband Jamie Lapointe; her daughter Judith Auerbach; her grandchildren Chavi, Ashe, and Bon; her nieces Jane and Dawn; and her former husband Stanley Auerbach.
Vicki was a gifted child who excelled in sports, music, and her studies. Vicki took great pride in her role as a member of the McQuinn family and their historic roots in the Comox Valley. She shared a special bond with her uncle Bob, who was like an older brother to her.
Among Vicki's gifts were a brilliant mind, a kind heart, and an indomitable spirit. She was a fierce advocate and a trial lawyer who pioneered divorce law in the province and provided smart and gentle guidance to anyone who asked, even in her retirement. She seemed to know something about everything and had a keen ability to arrive quickly at the essence of an issue.
Vicki was a powerhouse mother who cared for many people in and outside of her family. Vicki also enjoyed many artistic pursuits including painting, guitar, singing, and storytelling.
Part psychologist, part philosopher, and part advocate, she was a great listener whose wise counsel, generous spirit, and loyal friendship will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Jamie, Dr. Hadilid, Sasha Nowicki, and the many friends and professionals who helped Vicki on her journey.
