Argue - Thomas Herbert, aged 81 of Courtenay, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2003. Tom was predeceased by his mother Esther, his father James, his brother Robert and his daughter Helen. He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife Winifred; sons Jim (Christine) of Courtenay and Al (Bonita) of Edmonton; daughters Susan (Al) of Winnipeg and Anne of Whitehorse; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Tom served with the Royal Canadian Artillery as a Captain, from 1942 until 1970. He taught school in Winnipeg for 12 years, retiring to the Comox Valley in 1983. In his leisure, he very much enjoyed golfing, curling, woodworking and electronics, but above all, loved to spend time with his family. A Service of Remembrance was held from St. George’s United Church in celebration of Tom’s life on Monday, June 9, 2003. Should friends desire, donations in his memory to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
