Thompson - Sylvia Mabel (Edwards) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in her 91st year. Sylvia was born in London, England September 1911. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Geo Edwards and lived in Courtenay for 80 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband Arthur and her brother George. She leaves to mourn her brother Walter Edwards; her sister Gloria (Edwards) Thatcher of Courteney; also her daughter Lynette Brownlee; and son Ross Thompson; and grandchildren: Jimmy & Dianne, Dave and Randy Hunchuk, Michael & Chris Thompson and their families; and two great granddaughters: Courteney & Lauren Hunchuk. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Dorothy Thompson and her son Art.
Sylvia was a very special lady - a caring “Mum” and Gram to her family and enjoyed her friends so much.
She was also an excellent cook - specializing in pies and cookies. She worked for many years as a pastry cook at the Arbutus Hotel in Courtenay.
Sylvia has requested no service but she wants her friends and family to remember her.
A very special thank you to the nurses and wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Dr. Musgrave for his care.
