Moat, Sheila Marjorie
Sheila passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2005 after a long struggle with diabetes. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, husband Joe, sons David (Heather), Brian (Ali), Ian (Gloria), Alan, and daughter Janet (Dave) Burgess, as well as by her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Sheila is also survived by her brother Bob (Vivian) and nephew Christopher (Tina), presently living near Brighton, England.
Sheila was born at Ealing near London, England. She enlisted in the W.A.A.F. in 1941 and trained to be a radio operator. She was then posted to a coastal command station where she met and married her husband Joe.
In 1947 Joe, Sheila and one small son emigrated to Canada. From 1962 to 1965, now being in an R.C.A.F. family, Sheila taught Red Cross swimming at Cold Lake, Alberta, and from 1965 to 1968 she did the same thing in Courtenay. Later, she was active in the Toastmistress Club, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, and was also a member of 888 Wing of the R.C.A.F. Association. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 218 Church Street, Comox on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.
