August 19, 1936 - April 9, 2025
In loving memory ~
Sharon went home to be with Jesus on April 9th, 2025, at the age of 88, with her granddaughter Kristi by her side. Sharon was born in Los Angeles, California along with her sister Carol to parents Earle and Kay Ferris. She met her husband Gene Wennerberg at church, and they were married in 1955. At the time, Gene was in the army and was transferred to Fort Lewis in Olympia, Washington where over the next 5 years they welcomed their children Dan, Mike, and Cheri. One day in 1968, Gene went on a fishing trip with his friend Bill to Vancouver Island, Canada. Upon his return he showed Sharon a postcard of the Forbidden Plateau Ski Lodge in Courtenay, BC and said look what we just bought! In July 1968, they moved to the Comox Valley and never left.
Sharon and Gene were members of the Foursquare Church for many years and spent the last 40 years with the Comox Pentecostal Church (CPC). Music was so important to Sharon not only did she love singing, but she was also a beautiful violinist and played for many years at church services, and in her later years she enjoyed playing the ukulele with the Evergreen Seniors Ukulele Group. Sharon was an active member in the community volunteering at the Auxiliary Thrift Shop, Citizens on Patrol (COPS), or church events. Additionally, both Gene and Sharon volunteered at Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Hawaii for over 15 years. Many may remember Sharon working at the Mayfair Grill or the café at Leung's Grocery Store. However, more importantly, many will remember Sharons big, beautiful heart and how she always went out of her way to help others and make everyone feel special. Sharon was always smiling, and ready to tell a silly joke.
Sharon is predeceased by her husband Gene, and grandson Kenny. She is survived by her sister Carol Clary, children Dan and Betty (Stephanie, Micheal, and Christina), Mike and Betty-Ann (Melissa, Richard), Cheri and Glenn (Kristi, Jesse) and many great grandchildren and family members in the states.
Please join us for her Celebration of Life on April 26th 2025 at 2:00pm at the Comox Pentecostal Church, in lieu of flowers, we welcome stories during her service or written
for the family to read.
As Sharon always said, "We are not here for ourselves, we are here for others. "We love you Mom, Grandma, Grammie, to which we know she would quickly respond, "I love you more!"
