In loving memory ~
Sandie was well loved, appreciated and was very fortunate to have many wonderful family and friends.
She was known for her strong desire to help people, volunteering for many charitable organizations and events. Sandie would read the local newspaper, and upon seeing a request for volunteers for a worthy charity event, she would quickly apply, convincing her husband to go along.
Her commitment to helping others was exemplified by giving more than 150 blood donations over 40 years, helping to save countless lives. She was particularly happy to volunteer for Canadian Blood Services, for which she was honoured with an award as British Columbia and Yukon Blood Donor of the Year in 2017.
As well, Sandie was an enthusiastic volunteer shopping for groceries for people unable to get out, particularly helpful during the Covid lockdowns.
Sandie had a great sense of fun and often volunteered as a Christmas elf or other character to the delight of families. She was quick to laugh heartily at funny circumstances.
Health and fitness were important to Sandie, and she exhibited a lifelong talent for gymnastics. She was also admired for her ability to do yoga resulting in offers to teach, however, she preferred to be an enthusiastic participant. She often stunned yoga instructors who would playfully suggest very difficult moves which Sandie would then do, to the great delight of the class.
She was skilled at ballroom and square dancing, with many years on the floor enjoying company of the dance community.
Sandie had a long career in accounting. Two of her jobs were at a Burial Park and at a Lodge for dementia patients, where she appreciated helping those in need. She often took on the role of a computer expert helping to keep office systems working optimally.
Sandie had an enduring love for animals, particularly those needing rescue. Dogs instinctively saw her as a trustworthy friend.
Sandie is survived by husband Gregory, mother Eileen, sister Yvonne, and brothers Thom and Ray, and of course, Roxie the dog, which she deeply loved. She was predeceased by her father Leonard, brothers Steven and Russell, and sister Holly.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Courtenay.
