In Loving Memory ~
Ruby was born in Toronto, Ontario, on September 7, 1935. At age 12 she was stricken with polio and spent seven months in the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
The disease did not hold her back, and she later learned to drive a car. She worked for the Continental Insurance Company in Toronto where she was head telephone operator. After her mother Verna Jones died, Ruby moved west to Comox, B.C. and worked at CFB Comox. There she met and married Lloyd (Willie) Wilson in 1977.
Ruby was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital Gift Shop and the Comox Legion for many years. She enjoyed good food, watching TV, and she loved dogs, especially Beagles.
She leaves behind her cousin Sheila of Toronto, friend Clare of Port Perry, Ontario, her four stepdaughters, Susan, Linda, Debra and Donna of Nanaimo, and friends including Marilyn and Leona in the Comox Valley.
Predeceased by her husband Willie in 2009.
For the past five years, Ruby was a resident of Eagleview at The Views at St. Joseph's in Comox. She would want to thank all the staff and volunteers at Eagleview for their kindness, care, and love.
A memorial service was held at The Views on May 31, 2023.
