Roy was born at Headquarters. He was a descendant of the pioneer Grieve and Parkin families. Roy taught in several schools in District #71 and several districts on the mainland. He became Director of Education in Abbotsford.

Roy passed away on February 25th at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. He was predeceased by his first wife, Madeliene and his parents John and Margaret McLoughlin.

Roy is survived by his wife Barbara, in Chilliwack, and his two daughters: Wendy (Scott) McKellar and their 5 children, Lorna (Mark) Paterson and his brother, Jake McLoughlin. Also by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and one aunt.
