In Loving Memory ~

Our beautiful and deeply loved mom Rosemary Lyle (nee Carruthers) passed away peacefully at home, in the home she so adored, surrounded by the love of her five children on October 3, 2023, in Comox, B.C.

Born in New South Wales, Australia, she studied to be a registered nurse with a later specialty in midwifery. As a registered nurse, our mom's nursing career took her from Australia to New Guinea to Canada. Though her first passion was helping others, she could not deny her love of snow, mountains, and skiing. Her passion for skiing and nursing ultimately landed her in Comox, B.C. in 1968.

While living at the Lorne Hotel, ski instructing at Forbidden Plateau and nursing at St. Joseph's General Hospital, she would meet a handsome RCAF member Alexander Lyle during a Christmas party at the Lorne Hotel in 1969. They quickly fell in love and shared a beautiful 53-year marriage together.

Our mom also enjoyed and was very proud of her rewarding career as a registered nurse retiring as Manager of Obstetrics from St. Joseph's General Hospital in 1997.

Rosemary is predeceased by her beloved husband Alexander Lyle (DOD July 16, 2023).

She is survived by her loving five children: Elizabeth, James, Laura (Dean), Mary (Jonathan) and William (Christal).

Our mom held many titles during her life but her favourite of all was Grandma to Jack, Zoey, Cameron, Claire, Elise, Eric, Adam, Olivia, and Isla.

Her grandchildren share cherished memories of picking blueberries in her backyard, digging through her freezer for popsicles and raiding her cookie jar. Her door was always open and she welcomed every one of them with a huge hug and smile.

Though we very tearfully said goodbye to our mom, we take great comfort in her sharing with us she was ready to "come home" and eager to say hello to her beloved soul mate and our wonderful dad, Alexander. Our mom's unwavering faith and knowing she was reunited with our dad again, provided all of us with comfort and eased the pain of our final goodbye.

No words were left unsaid...there was nothing left on the table; we all knew how deeply loved we were by our mom and our mom knew how deeply we loved her. What a beautiful gift she left us with.

With sincere gratitude, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Itta Winter for the compassionate care you provided our mom over so many years. You were more than her doctor, Itta you were so dear to her and she considered you, her friend. Thank you as well to the Medicine Shoppe in Comox. Our mom considered you all family.

And lastly, a very special thank you to all of our mom's friends from nursing, T.O.P.S., Book Club, Comox Rec Center as well as her beloved church community at Comox United. You were always there for her. She loved you all dearly and valued your friendships deeply.

Mom, dad has been eagerly awaiting you! Give him a big hug from us too. We miss you both so deeply but our memories and the love from you and dad will guide us in this next chapter without you. With all of our love, the kids.

Please join us in celebrating our wonderful mom, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Comox. She would love for you all to come!
