Copp-Allen Rosemarie Florence
The Copp sisters wish to inform friends and relatives that their Mom, Rose, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2001, in the arms of her daughters, Lynn, Laurie and Cindy, at home in Victoria.
Mom was born July 18, 1928 in Chemainus, B.C. and spent many happy latter years living in Mesa and Florence Arizona, as well as, Mazatlan, Mexico. Mom was a world traveller who experienced so much and had so many great memories to leave us.
Rosie was an awesome Softball, Basketball, and Hockey, coach and player. She especially enjoyed coaching youth teams. She was an outstanding Fastball player in her time and played for teams in Ladysmith, Victoria and Duncan, one of which was a triple A team that travelled the western US playing.
Also an avid gardener she brought her plants with her when she moved to Victoria this past June. Proof of her green thumb can be seen at 438 Obed Avenue, Victoria, where you will see a sign identifying ’ROSIE’S GARDEN’.
Mom spent at least 15 years working at the Fuller Lake Arena where she was affectionately known as “Rosie the Rink Rat” to the youth who attended skating sessions Friday and Sunday nights. For the past several years Mom had volunteered for the Chemainus Festival of Murals Society at the tourist kiosk center. Another of her many pleasures was to meet people.
Rose was predeceased by her first husband, Joe Copp, and her second husband, Norm Allen. Also predeceased by her grandsons Ryan and Jason Odland.
We, Lynn, Laurie, and Cindy, would like to thank the following people for all they did for us and Mom:
Dr. Manhas, Chemainus
Dr. Geoff Inman, Victoria
Nurses: Heather, Cynthia, Madeline, Marilyn
Rose is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Lynn (Ken), Laurie (Daryll), Cindy (Jerry); her grandchildren: Quinn, Jesse, Sheena, Keeley Morrison, Daniel, Regan, Josh Williams, Keenan Lunde; also by her 4 great grandchildren: Paxton, Zachary, Trey and Isis.
We love you Mom!! Fly!!
You are the wind beneath our wings.
A Celebration of Rosie’s life will be held on January 5, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 191, Chemainus. Please come and share your pictures and/or stories. Mom says - “When I think of you I feel happiness and joy. When you think of me let it be with laughter and great memories and know that I had a good life. If you have to remember me with tears please don’t remember me at all.”
