The family of Bob Driscoll regret to announce his passing on August 21, 2002 at St. Joseph’s ECU after a short illness.

Bob was born in Crosby (Liverpool) England on May 2, 1918 and was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1998. He is survived by his five children, Glenn (Audrey) Driscoll of Victoria, Roberta (Gary Schwenning) Driscoll of Campbell River, Karen Davies of Edmonton, Jean (John Pidgeon) of Vancouver Brian (Motoko) Driscoll of Comox, four grandchildren, Angie Kenny, Chris Baragar, Cortney Davies, Morgan Davies, two great grandchildren Kennedy Davies and Walker Allen, and his very special friends Al and Doris Cameron of Comox.

Bob came to Canada in 1925 with his Mother Florence and attended various schools around the West End of Vancouver including old King George High School. During his youth he spent time in the Boy Scouts, CPR Telegraph, and the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada as a cadet and reserve soldier and at the outbreak of WWII remustered to the RCAF Medical Corps., serving onboard several hi-speed rescue launches (HSL), radar stations at Ucluelet and Marble Island QCI’s and bases at Pat Bay and Alliford Bay QCI’s.

He remained in the RCAF and served at Portage la Prairie, Gimli(2), Whitehorse, Winnipeg, Rockcliffe, Namao and Cold Lake with retirement in 1966 to Comox, whereupon he was employed as a radiographer at St. Joseph’s Hospital until 1978. He was a former President of Alberta Society of Radiographers, a very active in the Royal Canadian Legion as President of Branch #160, Comox, Mid Island zone commander, and D’esterre senior citizen’s housing earning a Life Membership in the RCL. An active member of 888 Komox Wing involved in the Ident-a-Kid program, and a member of Cumberland Masonic Lodge #29 (AF & AM). During his later years Bob “held court” at the Legion along with his friend Al Cameron.

Bob’s family invite all his friends to a Legion Poppy Service and “Celebration of Life” to be held at the Comox Legion (1825 Comox Ave, Comox, BC, upper floor) on Thursday, 29th August 15, 1:30 pm. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the RCL - Comox Branch Poppy Fund in his Memory.
