MacKENZIE, Proby Mary
December 19, 1922 - October 28, 2005
Proby passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Extended Care Unit at the age of 82. Born in Lochcarron, Scotland, Proby emigrated to Ocean Falls, BC in 1956 where she lived and raised her family. In 1976 she moved to the West End of Vancouver, the city she grew to love and consider her home. In 2002, she moved to the Comox Valley to be closer to her family due to failing health.
Predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers, Proby will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Louise, son Norman, and her most cherished grandson Ryan. She is also survived by nieces Judy Mohr (Vancouver), Catherine Tancon (Courtenay), and nephew William Mackenzie (Coquitlam) and their families, as well as nieces and nephews residing in Scotland.
Proby was a very caring and generous person whose kindness touched all those that knew her. A proud Scottish lady, Proby was devoted to her family and maintained a great sense of pride in her heritage. May her strength, passion, pride, and spirit continue on eternally.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. R. McNie, as well as the nurses, staff, and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Extended Care for their care, support, and comfort in her final years.
A Celebration of Proby’s life will be held at Piercy’s Funeral Home, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay, BC on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 1:30 pm.
