Phyllis, of Courtenay, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 8th, 2005, after a short but valiant fight against cancer. She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her only daughter Tracey; best friend Finn and 13 remaining siblings. Phyllis was an amazing and kind woman, who will be remembered for her kindness, honesty and fairness. She was a champion of social justice and taught those around her to care and to learn about other cultures. Phyllis loved to garden, sew, cook and travel. She was an adventurous soul who seized the day, and was always willing to help friends and strangers alike. Her door was always open and her heart always welcoming. She has left deep footprints wherever she has been. A Service in memory and celebration of her life was held on Saturday, June 11th at Branch 17, Royal Canadian Legion, Courtenay. COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, entrusted with arrangements. Flowers gratefully declined in consideration of donations in Phyllis’s memory to the Trans Canada Trail, #315 - 1367 West Broadway, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 4A9.
