Pitz - Peter
June 20, 1924 - June 20, 2005
Peter passed away at St. Joseph’s General Hospital. He was predeceased by his
parents Steven & Helen; brothers Alex, Bill & George; and a sister Mary Pitz. Peter is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Walker (Doug) of Duncan; grandchildren Daniel, Laurel & Cameron Walker; brothers John Pitz (Helen), Nick Pitz (Ann), Ivin Pitz (Sylvia); sisters Ann Boures (Harry), Rose Dodds (Bill), and Elizabeth Toderian (George); many nieces and nephews and great-nieces & nephews. Peter joined the Armed Forces in 1952. He served in Korea and retired from the Armed Forces in 1974. He was a member of the Comox Legion, Past Worshipful Master of Cumberland Masonic Lodge #26, also member of Comox Masonic Lodge #188 and many other Masonic bodies, Past president of Shriners (1984), a member of Korean War Veterans Association and volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society. Peter loved to travel, visit friends and family across Canada. He was an awesome cook, an avid reader and history buff. Peter had a great sense of humour and was “ferocious” in the kitchen. Dad loved children and was especially beloved by his daughter, grandchildren and extended family for his sense of fun, generosity and kind spirit. Peter believed in giving to his community and was an active volunteer through his service clubs and community services. A Memorial Service will be held for Peter at the Comox Legion, 1825 Comox Avenue, Comox, B.C. on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Peter’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, #102 - 1509 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay, B.C. V9N 2K6 or charity of your choice with appreciation.
