In loving memory ~

Patricia(Pat) was characterized by her great caring for both people and nature alike. Her varied career as Nanny, Nurse, Mother, Comox Town Residents Association President, Forest Land Commissioner and Fervent environmentalist speaks to this.

Her soft spoken demeanour concealed a tough determination to do what's right for both people and the environment.

She was loved and respected by colleagues, friends and family for her always caring and friendly disposition. She was a loving mother who was always there for her 2 boys.

Her sense of adventure led her from England to live in both Egypt and Canada. She always enjoyed a wilderness adventure or crewing on a friends sailboat. She approached every new adventure or acquaintance with a smile.

Pat was born in Devises, Wiltshire England. She spent a few years in Egypt as a Nanny at 18. She then trained as a nurse at Windsor Hospital, before her next adventure moving to Canada. There she met her husband of 58 years, Bill while working as a YMCA camp nurse. She went on to do her masters in English literature and served as the school nurse for part of this time. As her duties as a mother receded, she had a second career as a community organizer, starting the Comox Town Residents Association and spent a number of years as a commissioner on the forestry land commission, helping decide how to best protect our wilderness assets.

Pat leaves behind her Sons, Rob (Heather) and James (Janice); Grandchildren, Emily(Jack), Kathleen, Nick and Brody; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceded by her husband William(Bill), bothers Bryan Hayter and Nigel Hayter

Pat will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

A Celebration of life will be held in at d'Esterre Seniors Centre, 1801 Beaufort Ave., Comox, on November 23, at 1 pm.
