Baker, Pamela Joan
1926 ~ 2004
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Pamela Baker (nee: Sankey), born March 16, 1926 in Tisri, India. Pam passed away peacefully on March 30, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, B.C. She is survived by her daughters Judy (Joel) and Anne (Norm); and sons Hugh, Peter (Grinoalda), Tom (Tanis), grandchildren: Andrew, Jonathan, Amaya, Alissa, Brendan, Shannon, Cameron, Ross and her lifelong friend Biddy.
Pam was a loving woman who had the amazing gift of seeing the best in people. She trained at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and became a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career was shortened by the births of five children. Pam’s second career, being a teacher’s aide, was a job that she dearly loved until she reluctantly retired at age 65. Pam continued to enjoy children all her life. She loved experimenting with batik, drawing, writing short stories, gardening, especially with wildflowers and enjoyed woodworking projects in her house on Greaves Crescent. Pam will be greatly missed by her family and her many loving friends.
A special thanks to the wonderful, supportive and caring nursing team and new friends amongst the residents at the Extended Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3rd at PIERCY’S - MT. WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 440 ENGLAND AVE., COURTENAY. Following the service, refreshments will be served in Piercy’s Glacier Tea Room. Arrangements have been entrusted to PIERCY’S / MT. WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
