Nielsen, Niels Martin
Born on August 16, 1922 in Denmark, died September 14, 2004 at his home in Courtenay, B.C. of heart failure at the age of 82 years.
Niels immigrated to Canada in 1952 and worked on a farm in Alberta for a year before moving to Vancouver Island. He was employed in the logging industry then at the Fanny Bay Shingle Mill. In 1964 Niels moved to Alberni, working in the sawmill there until he moved on to Tahsis in the fall of 1964 where he worked in Tahsis Sawmill until his retirement in 1987 when he purchased his home in Courtenay.
Predeceased by his parents and two brothers in Denmark, he is survived by nieces and nephews there. He will be missed by family members in Denmark and by friends and neighbours here.
Niels was a treasured friend and will be greatly missed by Chris and Gertrud Nielsen of Penticton, BC and by the Offersen family, Mrs. Rose Offersen, Black Creek, BC, Sharon (Ali) Manouchehri and children of Ottawa and Shirley (Roger) Tarves and children of Black Creek, BC.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
