In loving memory ~

Mona Cashman (nee Wilson) passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 in Victoria, British Columbia, with her daughter by her side after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia.

Born on September 24, 1952 in London Ontario, Mona led a life of dedication and service. In 1975 she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Vancouver BC embarking on a distinguished military career that spanned 25 years. Mona also served with the RCMP in Yellowknife, further demonstrating her commitment to public service.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mona had a deep passion for genealogy. She spent countless hours researching family histories and generously sharing her knowledge with others who sought to uncover their own ancestral roots. Her love for quilting and sewing was equally profound; she dedicated much of her time at the seniors' center in Comox teaching quilting, fostering creativity and community among fellow enthusiasts.

Mona is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Phil Cashman; her daughter Chandra-Lee Koonts (Ben); her son Matthew Cashman (Kim); and her cherished grandchildren Hayly, Hana, Jack, Robert, Brendan, Connor and Karl. She is also remembered by her brother Tom and sisters Toresa, Michelle (Tim) and Margaret. Her extended family includes sister-in-law Joan (Archie) Fontaine and brothers in law Larry (Michelle) Cashman, Rick Cashman and Axel Kollewyn. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mona was predeceased by her father John Wilson; mother Margaret Piper; brother Joseph Wilson; sister Marie Lizee; Father-in-law Ken Cashman; mother-in-law Audrey Cashman and Audreys husband Kelly Brinks.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and doctors at Comox Valley Hospital for the exceptional care provided during Mona's stay, as well as the dedicated team at Victoria Jubilee Hospital ICU.

As per Mona's wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Operation Freedom Paws, an organization that helps veterans and first responders with service dogs in the Comox Valley.

Mona's legacy of kindness, knowledge sharing and dedication to both family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
