In loving memory ~

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Ruth.

She was born in Richland, Iowa. Her parents both passed away when she was very young. She and her siblings were all taken in by her Aunt Verle and Uncle Ores who lived in a small farming community west of Winnipeg, Headingley, Manitoba, Canada. On the farm, a work horse, chickens and garden were a central part of Ruth's life growing up.

The Nursing School of Misericordia, Winnipeg is where Ruth graduated. She then married and moved to Kelowna and worked for over 40 years at the Kelowna General Hospital in the maternity ward and finally became the head nurse of Emergency.

Ruth had 2 kids, David and Lynda, who came onto the scene in 1950 - 52. Adventures began along with many activities: swimming, skiing, canoeing, camping and many more. She especially loved to ski and became a member of the Big White Ski Area Ski Patrol for years.

Ruth cherished her 3 grandsons, Jared, Wilson, Spencer and 2 great grandchildren Emery and Mason. She took them camping, taught them to fish, introduced them to many crafts, and supported them in their many sports.

Ruth moved to Courtenay in 2006 to be with her family. She quickly got involved in many activities and clubs including clowning, drama, dancing, choir, meet & greet. The Evergreen Seniors and the Salvation Army kept her very involved. Bible studies, baking pies and the love of gardening were highlights of her life. She loved it all, along with her many friends.
