Brighton
Mary “Sunshine”
Apr 28, 1923 - Nov 4, 2005
Mary Brighton passed away on November 4 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Extended Care Unit at the age of 82 years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Leonard who passed away in 1997. She will be missed by her daughter Jennifer (husband Ed), and son Richard (wife Cathy) and her five grandchildren: Ingrid (husband Lindsey), Phil (wife Sonja), Cara, Laura and Ben.
Mary and Len immigrated to Canada in 1981 to join their children and after building their own home, spent the rest of their lives in the Valley. They often said that these years were the best of their lives and “that they should have moved here sooner”.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Extended Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the excellent care they provided Mary for the last seven years of her life. They had several nicknames for Mary: Mary “Sunshine” because she was always happy, or “Mary, Mary quiet contrary” when she insisted having something done her way.
Mary Brighton left an impression on everyone she met, because she always cared for others more than for herself. She never complained of what she was missing, but was always grateful for what she had.
Mary, you will be missed by your family and everyone who knew you.
The “Celebration of Mary’s Life” will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Comox at 2 pm on November 12, 2005.
