September 22, 1923 - April 17, 2024

In loving memory ~

Martha Lorraine Rodway born September 22, 1923, passed away April 17, 2024 at Ocean Front Village in Courtenay. She was predeceased by husbands Norris Elphick and Doug Rodway, two sons, Harry and James and step-daughter Noreen. She is survived by her sister Joanna Macmillan, daughter Leslie (Greg), daughter-in-law Lynne Whenham and son Ray (Suzanne), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lorraine was born in Michel BC a small coal mining town in the Crowsnest Pass. She was the second eldest in a family of 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She married her "policeman" (BC Provincial and later RCMP) in 1940 and raised her family in small towns and larger ones in the province of BC. After Norris' death she moved to Victoria and fulfilled a lifelong dream to work as a health care aide. There she met and married Doug Rodway. Together they spent many happy years travelling the world and wintering in California. A highlight of those travels was a trip to Holland in 1995 to celebrate the liberation of that country at the end of the Second World War. Lorraine moved to Comox after Doug's death to be closer to her daughter. She lived at Berwick Comox Valley before entering Long Term Care at Ocean Front Village. There she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held this summer.
