December 25, 1932 - May 24, 2024
In loving memory ~
It's with tearful eyes and heavy heart that I finally put pen to paper and announce the passing of our dear mother Margarita Glover who passed away quietly while listening to a couple of tunes on the guitar on May 24, 2024, at the Comox Valley Hospital
Margarita was born in Lima, Peru on December 25, 1932. A Christmas baby, where she grew up to be a hard worker, a talented seamstress and expert knitter. She also worked for the government as a Technographer, where she met a local fellow from Union Bay by the name of Herbert William Glover. They married and together with their two sons; Oscar and Manuel (Tony) worked and travelled all over the world; Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Brazil, Angola, the Marshal Islands, Chile, USA and of course here in Canada. Where they retired at the old homestead in Union Bay.
However, mom decided to go to work. So, she got a job washing dishes at the old "Seaside Restaurant", then many may remember her as the lady in "Zellers" at the fabric department where she worked for many years and when it closed, she decided to open her own store "Margaritas Fabrics". And together we ran a good little business. However, being so popular for her seamstress skills brought her more work than she wanted, so she closed and retired.
Many of the local Spanish speaking community may remember her as the one to help them get started. And also, the English-speaking community when she taught Spanish at N.I.C.
Unfortunately, her later years were afflicted by this unfair disease taking so many of our old ones. But through it all she could always laugh about it.
Margarita was a classy lady, who like helping people, she was a loyal wife and a wonderful mother, and we shall miss her forever.
Her name was Margarita
She was strong as an Ox
Quick like a cat
And smart like a fox
From high mountains
To the seas
She always made a home
She was a beauty to behold
And we were proud to call her mom
Never was a time
that we thought she was in fear
she never let us see her
shed even one tear
She liked her scotch, with ice
And she loved to drink her wine
And loved to cook great dinners
For all of you to dine
And if a song was playing
A tune that she recalled
She'd get up and dance
And shake with you all
Her name was "Margarita"
Her name was "Margarita"
Her name was "Margarita"
We were proud to be her sons
Oscar & Manuel (Tony)
