Nugent, Margaret Louise
Margaret Louise Nugent passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at Glacier View Lodge, Courtenay, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Terence and her brother, Martin Armstrong. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Peggy (Robert) Chmilar and grandchildren Stephen, Kelsey, Monica, and Natalie of Sicamous, BC, and Sheila (Robin) Nugent-Smith and grandchildren Terence and Doreen Hubley of Courtenay, BC. Margaret is also survived by her sister, Lillian Barnes of Westbank, BC and her brother, Patrick Armstrong of Kitchener, Ontario.
Margaret was born April 16, 1921 in Castor, Alberta and attended nursing school at the Edmonton General Hospital graduating in 1943. Margaret and Terry married in 1944 and moved to the Comox Valley in 1947 and raised their two daughters. Marg touched the lives of many as a nurse at the office of Dr. Theal, Dr. Coleman and Dr.Vey, at the St. Joseph’s Extended Care Unit and at the Comox Valley Home Support Agency. Upon retirement she fulfilled her lifelong dreams of oil painting and travelling. She was an active member in the St. George’s United Church and the Hospice Society. She will be remembered for her quiet, gentle manner, and great organizational skills.
The family is forever grateful to Dr. Ptak, Dr. Schovaneck and the caring staff at Glacier View Lodge. A special thank you to Lois Longfield and Marg Williamson for their incredible support.
A service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2001 at 1:00 pm at Piercy’s Funeral Home, Courtenay. Rev. Ray Brandon officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
