DesMEULES, Lucien Edmund (Blackie)
March 26, 1924 to March 4, 2002
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lou, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Born March 26, 1924 in Lac St. Jean, Alma, Quebec. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Tillie and sons: Gerry Babiy (Gerry), David (Lo) and Deas (Pam), grandchildren Alyce Babiy, LIza Munro (Chris), Christa DesMeules and Lisa-Beverly Babiy. Also survived by sisters Janine, Yvette, Teresa and brother Raymond also by niece Nicole.
Predeceased by sisters Yolande, Lucette, Cecile, Rosalinde and brother Victor. Also by son Allen (1993) and our Baba in 1973.
He was also predeceased by his cousin and friend Paul Girard in 2001.
Lou was a WWII Vet, long time Legion member, President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of both the Black Creek Lions and the Qualicum Bay Lions. Lou and Tillie owned and operated the Merville Store from 1975 thru 1983, tried retirement for a couple of years then bought the Georgia Park Store in Bowser in 1985 to present.
His sense of humor and panache for life will be missed. He was a good father and husband. He loved fishing.
Service will be at the Bowser Legion Hall on Saturday, March 9th, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Kidney Foundation.
He’s now with Al, Baba and Paul having a good chuckle.
