Louis Arnold Benjamin Braconnier

braconnier - Louis Arnold Benjamin, aged 78 of Cumberland, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, January 21st, 2002. Louis was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on September 9th, 1923, and raised in Tilley, Alberta until his family moved to Millicent, where he lived until joining the Army. Louis met his first wife Doris in Camrose and raised 6 sons and 2 daughters, spending most of the time in Brooks, Alberta. Moving farther west, they eventually settled in Cumberland. Louis is predeceased by his father in 1972, his mother in 1990, 2 brothers Victor and Hector, 4 sisters, Irene, Marge, Isabelle and Yvonne as well as 2 sons, Larry and Harry. He is survived by his son Arnold and wife Donna of Whitehorse, daughter Barbara and husband Jim of Campbell River, daughter Laurie and husband Bing of Wass, son Rory and wife Susan of Red Deer, son Calvin of Cumberland and 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his brothers and sisters all in Alberta; John Braconnier of Patricia, Henry Braconnier of Lethbridge and Peter Braconnier of Red Deer, Jean Schwaier and Florence Sumlak, both of Calgary, Doris Winchester of Brooks and Janet (Doug) Hart of Lethbridge and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and many friends. Funeral Services were held from the Chapel of COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD, on Friday, January 25th with interment at Cumberland Municipal Cemetery.
