Born in Vancouver on May 18, 1925 Lois was the eldest of four children and spent her early life in Edmonton.

They later returned to Vancouver where she met her husband Ray Salo. They lived in Kyuquot with their four children Terry, Diane, Dale and Brian and later moved to North Vancouver. When she retired she moved to Courtenay continuing to enjoy the sea and mountains. Recently she lived in the Duncan area. Her outdoor passions included gardening, hiking and travelling. She was a long-standing member of the Natural History Society and spent many hours bird watching and studying flowers. Other cultural interests included the symphony and opera. She enjoyed hosting the holiday festivities with her family. She is survived by her younger brother Llewellyn John Black, her four children, eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Chemainus Health Care Center for their care and compassion given their Mother. Please join the family for a celebration of her life at the Chapel at Providence Farm 1843 Tzouhalem Rd. in Duncan on Sat. October 15, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
