Hawley, Lloyd E.
May 29, 1925 - May 12, 2006
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Edward Hawley, husband of Shirley Stewart; father of Lorraine (Ron) Webber, Stephen (Judy) Hawley, Philip (Helen) Hawley, Michael Hawley, Lyn Hawley, Lee (Patty) Hawley, Tim (Bridget) Hawley; grandchildren: Donna, Deanne, Robert, Grant, James, Ty, Delaney, Sarah, Josh, Daniel, Jackie, Curtis, Heather, Jenette, Amber and Amanda; 5 great-grandchildren; and Shirley’s large extended family. Predeceased by his father Ernest Alfred Hawley and mother Sarah Jane Hawley and his first wife of fifty years Patricia Frances Hawley.
Lloyd was born in Toronto, Ontario and served for 19 years in the RCAF and retired to Comox. He started a new career with Elk Falls Mill for another 17 years as a first aid-timekeeper. Lloyd had a beautiful bass baritone voice and enjoyed singing. He was a good artist and a great poet. He really enjoyed the years he spent as a Snowbird in Yuma, AZ and had many friends there. He enjoyed the casino and card games and was an avid golfer. Lloyd was a long-time member of the Millionaire’s Club at Sunnydale. After his first wife Pat’s passing, he found a new and wonderful partner in his wife Shirley Stewart. A large part of Lloyd’s enjoyment was his volunteering and commitment to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 17. Lloyd led a very full life with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2:00pm in the Upper Hall of the Courtenay Legion, Branch 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the chemotherapy department at St. Joseph’s Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s/Mt. Washington Funeral Home and Crematorium.
