Linna Joan Smith

Smith - Linna (Lee) Joan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2002.

Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, George Robert Smith; daughter Arlene (Robert) McAllister; son Gregg (Adrienne) Smith; daughter Lorri Smith. Also survived by her grandsons, her pride and joy, Jason McAllister, Brad McAllister and also Ryan Sundbo.

Predeceased by her parents Harry & Annie Hrynkow. Linna was an only child and had no other relatives.

Linna was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on November 11, 1930. Her heritage was Ukrainian and Polish. Her birth name was Michelina. Mom shortened it to Lee. Mom was a hardworking, independent, energetic woman who faced all challenges head on. She had a strong faith in the Lord. Her faith, strength, determination and positive attitude contributed to her ability to live with and battle lung cancer for the last 3 years. Mom never complained about her challenges, she accepted them and moved on in her life. She was happy to wake up and hear the birds singing. Mom owned Smith Catering and worked at CFB Comox as a cook. Many people throughout the valley enjoyed her canning and cooking. Mom loved working in her flower and vegie garden.

Mom was a member of the Comox Lions Club, Ukrainian Club, Comox Legion and C.W.L. and Eastern Star.

Mom was much loved and will be missed by many.

Funeral Services will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church, Courtenay on Friday, August 23 at 1:00 pm. Prayers held on Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 pm with Father Joe Killoran officiating.
