Zinck, Lewis Samuel
Lewis left us suddenly on December 10th, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, BC. He is sadly missed by his devoted wife of 58 years, Marion; children Robert Zinck, Valerie Harding, Beverley Galley, and Maureen Zinck; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Lewis was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, his father, mother and two brothers, and one sister.
Lewis was born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, being a descendent of Caspar Zinck who immigrated to Nova Scotia in 1750. He was very proud of his heritage and loved the sea, starting his lifelong adventures at the age of 14, lying to get aboard ship. He served in the Merchant Marines, and the Royal Canadian Air Force. After retiring in 1975, he taught welding at North Island College. Lewis also built the ways on the Dyke.
A Celebration of Lewis’ Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160, Comox, on Thursday, December 16th, 2004 at 1:00 pm, Reverend N.Parker will be officiating the poppy service.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the Beaufort Association, Quest Program, Recreation, 536B - 5th Street, Courtenay, BC V9N 1K3.
