Phillips Lewis Corlett


Lewis passed away peacefully at Extended Care Unit, St. Joseph’s Hospital, April 10, 2002.


Born August 6, 1920 French Creek, B.C. He entered into the teaching profession in 1940. Lewis was a local administrator/principal for Comox, Courtenay and Brooklyn Elementary Schools, 1959-1986. He served overseas during WWII as a medic/ordinance corp., and was decorated with the Italy Star, France-Germany Star, Defense Medal and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Lewis was a member of the Masons, Legion, Rotary and after retirement, volunteered at the Crisis Centre. Lewis loved to fish, walk his dogs and do stained glass.


Lewis was a devoted and caring husband and will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Stella. Lewis is survived by his four children; Andrew Phillips (Rita), children Victoria and Caitlin of Toronto, Ont., Avril Bogora (Ross), children Jennifer, Stephanie Philip, of Ottawa, Ont., Gillian Normandin (Rob), children Sarah, Meghan, of Comox, B.C., Jonathan Phillips (Carol) children Elise, Amanda, Gregory of Tsawwassen, B.C.


He is also survived by his brother Jim Phillips (Midge) Victoria, B.C., children Cathleen and John.


The Phillips family extends their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Extended Care Unit, for all their support and kindness.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made either to BC Parkinson’s disease Assoc., 1-800-668-3330, or towards the purchase of a memorial bench - donations may be sent to his family care of: 1229 Wally Rd., Comox, B.C. V9M 3X9.


A small memorial service will be held May 14th, 2:00 pm at Extended Care, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the Phillips family will be having a private Celebration of Life in July.
