Robinson, Leslie George (Robbie) born in England June 15, 1919, passed away peacefully from cancer at the age of 84, at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Comox, on May 13, 2004. Family members were at his bedside.

His wife, Dorothy, of 54 years and his daughter Lynda Royer, predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Williams (U.K.), daughter Penny Long (Harold), and his five grandchildren: Jennifer Long (Jay) of Toronto, Christine Robbins (Daryl), Steven Long, Michael Fahr (Cristina) of Nanaimo, and Leslie Fahr of Edmonton, and his sons-in-law, John Fahr and Ludger Royer.

He was a veteran of WWII in the British Army and served in Africa and Europe. Robbie served as a Detective with the Metropolitan Police Force-Scotland Yard in the U.K. He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1956 after he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce. Robbie retired from the RCAF in 1969, to further work for Echo Bay Mines, Comox Valley Sports Center, and Mac & Blo at Menzies Bay. Robbie was active in provincial politics, and was a volunteer at Glacier View Lodge, St. Joseph’s General Hospital-Extended Care Unit, and the Salvation Army League of Mercy.

The family invites Robbie’s friends to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held at Salvation Army Church, 1580 Fitzgerald Ave, Courtenay, at 2:30pm Thursday, May 20, 2004.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or any charity of choice. Piercy’s - Mt. Washington Funeral Home in care of arrangements.


He was dearly loved by all

and will be greatly missed.
