On August 22, 2023, Leata Nielsen passed away. Born in Toowoomba, Australia, on July 7, 1925, she was 98. Leata is predeceased by her husband Norman Nielsen and is survived by her son Scott Nielsen, her two grandchildren Eric Nielsen and Leata Parnell, and her three great-grandchildren Jack Parnell, David Parnell and Ellie Parnell. Leata came to Canada on a holiday, met Norman, fell in love, and made Canada her home. However, Leata never lost her Australian accent or unique sense of humour. Leata lived life with great spunk and energy and will be missed greatly by her family and friends who loved her dearly. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Views at St. Joseph's who provided such wonderful and loving care during the last year of her life.
