LaIrd, Donaldson
Laird Donaldson was born May 15, 1924 in Duluth, Minnesota, passed September 21, 2002 with his family by his side. Laird is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Eva Donaldson; his three children: Laurie Donaldson, Bill Donaldson, and Diane Donaldson; granddaughters: Korie Adams, Marisa Donaldson, Chelsea Donaldson, and Montana Madill; great grandchild Tylan Adams; numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister Donna Mowery.
Laird attended Franklin and Roosevelt High Schools in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, Korea war and then in the Airforce in Vietnam. He has many medals for his service to his country. Laird retired from the Air Force and lived for many years on Denman Island, B.C. and at Norwood Equestrian Center on Vancouver Island in Canada. In 1995 they moved to Stanwood, WA. Laird was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved football. He was a member of the Masonics, Shriners and was once president of the Denman Island Community Hall and was a member of the Denman Island Legion.
Laird was a surrogate father to many of his children’s friends and was a grandfather and father to many children. His sense of humor, generosity and his ability to accept and not place judgment on others was a rare gift. All of us lost our best friend, however, he remains in our hearts.
At his request no service will be held. Donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital.
