In loving memory ~
Surrounded by his loving family Ken passed away peacefully on March 8th at Comox Valley Hospital. He was 97 years old. Born Jan 9, 1928 in Bevan.
Ken lived, worked and raised his family in the Comox Valley.
Predeceased by his parents Connie and Edith, brother Don, wife Beverly (2019) sister Joanne Farwell as well as Bev's 4 sisters and their husbands. He is survived by daughter Jill, son Brent (Judy) and daughter Joan Rallison (Gord) grandsons Brad (Breanne), Jordan Rallison (Tasha and 4 great grandchildren. Hi brother-in-law Alec Urquhart (Rene) and sister-in-law Fanella... as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a hard worker, eager volunteer, golfer curler, and skier, and he also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bev and Ken enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Palms Springs and Arizona in the winter and spent many summers at Kye Bay. Ken was a great man, father, grandfather and an inspiration to all.
He operated several business in downtown Courtenay over the years. The Glacier Cafe and the Garden Patch Florist shop with Bev.
He owned and operated AS&A trucking with his brother Don and was the Manager of the Comox Valley Curling Club for 34 years.
As a board member of Sunnydale Golf Course he was instrumental in raising funds to build the cart she and the construction of the second 9 holes. He was a member for 40 years. He was a Nativ Son Mason and an Elk Lodge Member. He was also a member of the St George's United Church for over 50 years.
A special thank you to his walking group and neighbourhood coffee buddies who kept him going the past few years. Also a special thanks to Lorne and Mike his crib partners, Allan and Bill his cheerleaders and all the special neighbours. Chris, Jolie, Mary, Fred, Laura and Dan who supplied him with food and company over the last few years of his life, also Mona Law for weekly tea times.
With the help of his family Ken was able to live in his own home up until his passing as was his wish. Donations can be made to the Charity of your choice in Ken's Memory.
A service will be held May 3 2025 2:30-5:30 at St George's United Church 595-6th Street Courtenay BC.
