Everett, Kathleen Frances
(nee: Pickering)
Kay was born March 24, 1921 in Port Arthur, Ontario and passed away peacefully at home in Comox November 23, 2004 surrounded by her family. Predeceased by parents John and Florence Pickering, sisters Lillian and Florence, and brothers Jack, Trevor, and Leonard. Kay is survived by Vince, her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, son Len (Pat), daughters Kathy Everett, Joan Dryden (Kevin), and much loved grandchildren James, Thomas, Joanna, Daniel, and Richard - and Fred the “therapy dog”.
Kay graduated from Sherbrooke General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943, working there until 1945, then returning to Port Arthur. With her parents and sister Lillian, Kay arrived in Comox in 1946 on board the Princess Mary. She worked for Dr. H.A.L. Mooney & Assoc. as nurse and receptionist from 1947 to 1949. Kay met Vince Everett at a dance in the Native Sons Hall and were married in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Comox May 23, 1949. Kay was a member of Florence Chapter No. 53, Order of the Eastern Star, joining in 1957.
Mom enjoyed family gatherings, babies, music, the Royal Family, travelling and boating with Vince and their friends. Kay was a wonderful, protective Mother and loving wife, the center of our family. We loved her feistiness and sense of humour.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jonathan Reggler for his wonderful compassion and care, Tim Cowan of The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, and Kay’s many friends and relatives for their support and kind words. No flowers by request but donations may be made to the BC Lung Association.
Private family graveside service.
Thank you, Mom,
for a wonderful home -
Rest in Peace
