Witmer - Kathleen Elizabeth Bell “Kae” a resident of Glacier View Lodge since October 2, 1995 passed away suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Thursday, May 16, 2002, at age 92. Kae was born October 12th, 1909 in London, Ontario, raised in West Summerland, B.C., graduated from business college in London, Ontario, worked, married and lived in Ontario until moving to Comox, in 1975. Predeceased by her parents: Emma Viola and Charles Bell, sisters: Dorothy and Hazel, husband Earl Witmer, son Gib, her infant daughter, and son-in-law Chub Lenz. Kae is survived by her daughter Joan Lenz of Comox; grandchildren: Deb (Larry) Dobinson of Courtenay, Heather (Rick) Schroeder of Black Creek, and Adele (Randy) Brown of Naramata; great grandchildren: Tami (Brad), Jennifer (Scott), Denice, Kim, Matthew, Zo‘, and Jarusha; great, great grandchildren: Jessica and Spencer; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Kae, a very kind and generous spirit with a great sense of humor will be sadly missed by her first priority - her family and the many friends she made along her life journey. The staff of Glacier View Lodge were as a second family to her. Their care and love helped to keep her with us. Dr. Konway worked so hard to keep her comfortable. The ambulance crew were so kind and gentle as were the emergency doctors and nurses, volunteers and 2nd floor staff. Thank you all for your overwhelming kindness and understanding. Private family cremation arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD, to be followed by a Life Celebration Tea at Glacier View Lodge on Thursday, May 30th at 2:00 pm. For those wishing, donations in Kae’s memory to the SPCA, 1668 Ryan Road, Comox, BC, V9N 8N6 would be appreciated.
