Kathleen Edith Smith

Smith - Kathleen Edith, aged 87, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, on Thursday, May 20th, 2004. Predeceased by her brother Bud Vanderhaeghe and his wife Freida, sister Lola Darnbrough and granddaughter Marcia Woodrow. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband Lloyd; daughters: Coralie Williams of Courtenay and Steffany Caldwell of West Vancouver; granddaughter Leah Jarjoura and husband Kristofer of London, England; brother Robert Doughty and his wife Patricia of Parksville; brother-in-law John Darnbrough of Victoria; nephews and nieces: Len Darnbrough and wife Liz of Oliver, Diana Jenks and husband Len of Victoria, Ken Vanderhaeghe and wife Sharon of Vernon, Janet Hansen and husband Walt of Edmonton, and Teri Doughty and husband Larry of Nanaimo. On the Smith side of her family, Kathleen will be ever remembered by sisters-in-law Dorothy Grimm (Ray) of Portland, Oregon; and Georgie Smith of Courtenay; brothers-in-law: Jack Smith (Mary) of Campbell River, Raymond Smith (Nellie) of Miami, Florida, Adrian Smith (Gladys) of North Vancouver; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kathleen moved to the Comox Valley with her husband Lloyd Smith in 1947. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always placing her family first. This wonderful lady will be deeply missed and forever loved. At Kathleen’s request, there will be no funeral service. For those wishing, flowers are gratefully declined in consideration of donations in her memory, to Third Floor, St. Joseph’s General Hospital, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, B.C. V9M 1P2. Kathleen’s family has entrusted her arrangements to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD.
