In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Judy, (nee Jacobson) on March 14, 2025, after a short stay at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Judy was born in Port Alberni to Victor and Heather Jacobson and moved to Courtenay in 1956. She was in the first graduating class at GP Vanier in 1968. Judy married Frank Gavin in 1972, spent some time back east with Frank's postings. They had 2 children, while stationed in Victoria.
In 1977, Judy moved back home to Courtenay with the children, where she raised them. Judy was a hardworking, kind, single mom who loved her children and family. She worked in the banking industry for over 35 years, the majority of her career at CIBC, Driftwood Mall, where she gave many people their first mortgage.
In retirement, she was the proud owner of Chintzy & Chic, a well-loved children's store. Judy absolutely loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.
She is lovingly missed by her daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Stevenson, children, Jacob, Veronika and Silas. Her son Michael Gavin, children, Renton and Amaya (Daryl), children, Camila and Lucy. Her brother Randy Jacobson, children, Sarah and Travis (Marie), and sister Gayle (Gary)Watson, son Scott, great nephews Garrett, Blake, Alex and Asher and many cousins and friends. Judy was predeceased by her parents and her children's father.
Judy's family invites you to her final party at 3348 Royston Road on May 25, 2025, at 2 pm for an informal gathering outside to share memories.
As Judy would remind you, please dress appropriately for the weather.
