MEZOVARI - Joszef “Joe” of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednes-day, December 18th, 2002, at age 79. He was born March 6th, 1923 in Hungary, serving as an Army Officer prior to coming to Canada in 1957 after the Revolution. Joe arrived in Abbotsford with his wife Esther, who predeceased him in 1970. He became part of his second wife Muriel’s family 2 years later. He will be sadly missed by his “adopted” family; wife Muriel; step-children Beverly (Wolf) Hofmann, Carl (Willie) Gark and grandchildren Byron and Teresa, Lynn (Wayne) Klassen and grandchild Dana (C.W.) and his great-grandchild Payton. Joe showed his family what life was like during and after World War II and continually impressed upon them how fortunate they were to live here. He was a great Canadian. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, December 23rd at 1:00 p.m.from Faith Lutheran Church, Courtenay, with Pastor Tim Rumsch officiating, followed by interment at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
