ROBERT Joseph Michel “Mike”

1935-2002

Born March 29, 1935 at Laurier, Manitoba passed away peacefully September 22, 2002 with his son by his side after a brave battle with cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Predeceased by his father Alfred and survived by his mother Marie Louise Mireault, Coquitlam, brother Raymond, Comox, sister Dolores Jackson, Port Coquitlam; brother Marcel, Vancouver; son Stephen and wife Angela, Comox; daughter Michell, Vancouver; grandson Michael, Comox; granddaughters: Claudia, Vancouver; Dianne in Comox, numerous nieces, nephews, also survived by his good friend Ann and his ex-wife Marion.

Mike had a 20-year career in the RCAF. Serving at Metz, France and many areas in Canada, such as Holberg, Jerico Beach, St. Hubert, Comox, Mill Bay, Nova Scotia, retiring from the forces in 1972. He then went to work for B.C. Liquor Control stores where he worked in Campbell River and was a relief employee at Albert Bay, Tofino, Ucluelet, Gold River and Tahsis. The past 12 years he owned and operated a business called Lucky Jig Ent, manufacturing fishing halibut lures. He enjoyed fishing to the fullest and was a member of the RCL #160 Comox.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 1599 Tunner on Monday, September 30th at 9:00 a.m. with Father Joe Killoran celebrant.
