Whitehouse, John William “Bill”

Of Courtenay, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2003 aged 56. Predeceased by his parents; Bill and Violet Whitehouse in 1965 and 2002, he is survived by his loving wife Lila, sons James (Donna), and Lawrence (Justine) and by his grandchildren Kendra and Savanah. Also survived by his Auntie Pearl Walker of Nanaimo and Auntie Dot (Al) Dixon of Courtenay and cousins Marilyn and Mel of Nanaimo and Rosemary and Bob of Galiano Island, and many cousins in Alberta. Bill was born in Cumberland and resided in the family home in Courtenay most of his life with the exception of one year when he lived in Comox with his wife Lila. Bill and Lila returned to the family home in 2002. Bill had a passion for automobiles, a great love for the outdoors and was respectful of all that nature provided. Bill owned a small evergreen business operating from home. He will be remembered as a fair man in all his business dealings, both generous and helpful. Bill died peacefully in the loving care of his wife, Lila. He put up a courageous fight against the cancer that took him. Lila would like to extend many thanks for the caring, comforting support of the home Care nurses: Rita, Pat and Lynn. Also for the support and understanding of her employers (Western Evergreens) and friends: Dick, Linda and Kevin, Vera and Otto. A Celebration of Life Service for Bill will be held on Monday, March 17th at 2:00 P.M. from the CHAPEL OF COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD followed by a reception in the “Garden Room” of the funeral home.
