side, Jack passed away

peacefully on 8 March 2005,

at his residence in the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion, Victoria, BC. Predeceased by his wife, Viola (Lola), his brother Harry, and his sister Roberta. Jack is survived by his sister Shirley and son Leonard (Elizabeth), of Oliver, daughter Diana (Leonard Jenks) of Victoria, three grandchildren: Lorena (John), Sandra (Jim) and Laura (Marty), and six great-grandchildren: Andrea, Michael, Michaela, Daniel, Jaclyn and Owen.

Born 8 August 1915, in Creekfield (Laura District), SK, Jack moved to Vancouver Island in January 1933. He worked in logging, land clearing, and construction projects, including the preparation of Tofino, Patricia Bay (Victoria) and Comox airfields during WW2. Subsequently, he was employed for many years with the BC Department of Highways. After retirement in 1979 in Sayward, he lived at Buckley Bay and Courtenay before moving to Victoria. Jack was a member of the Comox Volunteer Fire Department, and the Courtenay Fish and Game Association, for many years. He loved his family, his dog, his boat, fishing, hunting, and a good time with his friends.

A reception to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, 19 April 2005, at the Comox Valley Yacht Club, 132 Port Augusta Street (lower level, Black Fin Pub), Comox. Charitable donations may be made to the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation, 3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC V8T 3J3.
