Phillips, John James “Phil”
A resident of the Extended Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, passed away peacefully on Monday, April
10th, 2006, aged 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary; daughter Linda Mae Phillips of Winnipeg and his adopted daughter Mina Orchard, also of Winnipeg; brother Dennis Pelepchuk of Thunder Bay, Ontario; brothers-in-law Jim Tease and Jack Peggie (Irene), both of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Doris Tease. Phil and Mary were married in Winnipeg in 1959 and travelled throughout Canada for some 20 years. He served with the Air Force, as a firefighter instructor at Camp Borden, Ontario and at the completion of his career, retired from CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. In his retirement years, Phil enjoyed many hours of fishing with his close friend Riley Stotts. His family would like to express their thanks to Myra and Jim McArthur, Larry and Hazel Howland, Joyce and Riley Stotts, Colleen and John McConnell, Sandra and Gerry Prystupa and to the Extended Care staff at Oceanview Manor, Doctor Desmond Konway and nurse Rick for their exceptional care and kindness.
