In loving memory ~

Jack Hagen, a native of Trail, BC, passed away on July 5th, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. Born to Alice and John McIssac, Jack's early life was marked by the tragic loss of his father in 1940. He was lovingly adopted by his stepfather, George Hagen, and grew up alongside his sister Marilyn and half-sister Gina.

After graduating from Western Washington University, Jack began his career as a teacher, where he touched countless lives with his dedication and passion. In 1960, he married Dianne, and together they had four children—Asheya, Susie, Kari, and Dan—during their 22 years of marriage.

Jack was a multi-talented athlete, excelling in track, football, and rugby. His university years were filled with record-setting performances and numerous awards. His passion for sports extended far beyond his personal achievements, as he became a mentor and coach, inspiring generations of athletes to strive for greatness.

As a devoted father, Jack shared his love of sports, music, animals, and life with his children and grandchildren. His playful spirit and cherished Irish rugby songs will remain treasured memories for his loved ones.

Throughout his life, Jack embraced various roles, including teacher, business manager, and entrepreneur. His legacy is one of inclusivity, encouragement, and a deep passion for helping others reach their full potential. Though he will be deeply missed, the impact he made on the lives he touched will continue to inspire and motivate future generations.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Alice, John, and George, as well as his sister Marilyn. He is survived by his children: Asheya (Glenn), Susie (Gil), Kari (Dany), and Dan (Shannon); his grandchildren: Kyle (Lindsay), Brandon (Sadie), Brianna, Abbi, Brennan (Maddy), and Caileigh; his step-grandchildren: Tessa and Dayne; his great-grandchildren: Leah and Ella; and his half-sister, Gina.

The family extends special thanks to the compassionate staff and the beautiful facility at Stanford Seniors Home in Parksville, BC.

A Celebration of Life service for Jack will be held at the Little Red Church in Comox on September 8th from 1:30 to 4:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society in Jack's memory.
