In Loving Memory ~
John passed away peacefully on April 3rd in the company of his loving wife of 60 years, Georgia McLellan. John was born in Pioneer Gold Mines, BC to Garnet and Ruby Mclellan on July 31st, 1939.
He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1959 and trained as a pilot, starting his career as an instructor on the venerable Harvard aircraft in Moose Jaw. He went on to fly fighters for many years and eventually transferred to rotary aircraft for his final years in the military.
Through his travels, he was able to experience many countries and cultures. His last posting was in Comox at 442 sqn flying the Labrador search and rescue helicopter. He loved the team spirit and the challenging rescue missions. Two of his more memorable rescues included the sinking of the Prinsendam passenger ship and the Squamish floods. He had many stories and everyone wanted to hear them.
John is departed from our lives but never from our hearts. He is survived by his wife, Georgia, children, Robert (Corinne), Karry (Randy), and Karl (Karen), brother Jim (Kathy) and sister Linda and 6 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Our lives were filled with love and adventure.
