In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our Dad Joe Gawryluk aged 86. A dedicated father partner and cherished friend who departed on October 20 at 1:23 am, surrounded by his loved ones.
Joe loved Cumberland he lived there for most of his adult life. Was a Volunteer Fireman for over 20 yrs. He used to say, "Why go anywhere else when I have the most beautiful place in the world right here in my own back yard". Most of the times you could find him sitting on his back porch enjoying the beautiful scenery or in his garage puttering around or sitting in his chair listening to the radio, woodstove going with a cold one.
His biggest passion was up at the cabin hunting and fishing. Telling stories and laughing with old and new friends. When his 3 boys got together with him you could hear the music and laughter all the way up the lake. Most of all, he will miss the laughter that came with all of this. He generously shared his knowledge with younger generations, communicating not only hunting techniques but also the vital principles of conservation and land.
His cabin was his home away from home, he couldn't wait to get up there. If he could stay there all year round, he would. Joe loved the outdoors from a young age he was captivated by nature earning the nickname "Bush" as a child.
Whether in the woods with family, old friends or new hunting partners. The connections forged around the campfire or woodstove were as significant to him as the hunt itself.
Joe is survived by his partner Pat Rye his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a multitude of dear friends who appreciated his rugged spirit, generous heart and unwavering passion for the outdoors.
He will be remembered for his captivating hunting stories his adventurous spirit and his love for his family. Although he is no longer with us his spirit will forever inhabit the places he cherished and the hearts of those who knew him.
